The Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) authorizes the expansion of the Houston Ship Channel which will widen and deepen the channel for safer and more efficient navigation of vessels using the port. Port Houston Executive Director Roger Guenther states that “It is BIG for economic prosperity and growth of an industry that is served by the busiest waterway in the country.”

The expansion of this channel has been Port Houston’s top priority for almost a decade.
